We are looking for energetic, hardworking and enthusiastic individuals to aid in our kitchen operations at the Hermitage Hotel.

About you:

  • Experience is desirable but not essential, Your CV and referees will show a proven record of commitment, hard work, and someone who is ready to take on a challenging but essential role. 
  • If you are energetic, learn quickly, and willing to always give your best, you will do well. 
  • You will need a strong sense of personal and professional hygiene as you will be working in a food environment.
  • You should be physically fit, as this is a physically demanding role, and enjoy being part of a team
  • You will be working in any one of our three kitchens.

Tasks include:

  • Cleaning in all stewarding areas – pot wash, dish wash, café wash, chamois
  • Cleaning of kitchens food preparation areas including fridges/freezers, food storage areas and walkways.
  • Cleaning of equipment, floors and other areas as required
  • Assisting in maintaining hygiene standards throughout the kitchens.
  • Transferring, and checking supplies and equipment, communicating and ordering from stores as and when required
  • Basic food preparation including washing/peeling/cutting may be required from time to time
  • Work as part of the stewarding team maintain a pleasant and safe working environment
  • Actively and positively communicate and promote comradery between all hotel departments in particular with chefs and front of house service staff.

Due to the idyllic, isolated location of Mt Cook, you will need to be comfortable working and living in a remote location.
